Dads Day 2012

On March 10th, the women of Alpha Xi Delta had a great time at Dads Day.  We had a tasty lunch at the house and then headed to Haymarket Park to watch some Husker Baseball.  The weather was perfect for a day at the ballpark.
Perfect weather for some baseball
The Huskers played the California Golden Bears, and while they got off to a bit of a slow start, really kicked things into high gear with a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth making it a very fun game for girls and their dads. The Huskers won 12-5.

Special thanks to Michelle Potts for organizing a great day, and to all the dads that came out for a fun afternoon!

International Badge Day 2012

Tomorrow is International Badge Day, a day where sorority women everywhere are encouraged to wear their badges as a celebration of sisterhood.  National Panhellenic Conference chairman and Alpha Xi Delta Jane Sutton has been posting facts about the badges of each NPC sorority on her blog.  You can check it out here: http://alphaxideltanpc.blogspot.com/

Here's what she had to say about our very own Quill:

Alpha Xi Delta:
• Alpha Xi Delta’s badge, The Quill, represents the Fraternity’s motto, “The pen is mightier than the sword.”

• Lewie Strong Taylor designed the first Quill in May 1893. Originally, Lewie designed Alpha Xi Delta’s badge to have a rose above the Quill, but the jeweler who fashioned the first pins feared the rose would fall off with normal wear. The original badge was approximately seven-eighths of an inch long and set on a stickpin.

• Cora Bollinger Block had the first jeweled Quill with a sapphire surrounded by turquoise jewels.
Don't forget to wear your Quill proudly tomorrow!

¡Fiesta Feed 2012!

On March 1st, the women of Alpha Xi Delta teamed up with the men of Pi Kappa Alpha for a night of philanthropic fun.  Fiesta Feed was a huge success! We had a great time serving up nachos, and of course, benefiting our national philanthropy Autism Speaks. Thanks to everyone that made the night fantastic!
